Inclusivity Manifesto

fellowship, n. Friendly association, especially with people who share one’s interests.
—The Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary

The Fellowship Beyond the Star (Fellowship) is an organization of individuals from various paths who aim to form a community away from the Wiccan-based groups in the Washington, D.C.; Maryland; and Virginia (DMV) area. While we do not refuse individuals who identify as Wiccan—our aim is to expand our discussions into broader, more complicated areas than what one might find in groups such as those. We also aim to foster a space where non-Wiccan Pagans can feel comfortable expressing themselves and their religious beliefs with others.

Because of this, the Fellowship takes a firm stance on inclusivity:

inclusivity, n. An intention or policy of including people who might otherwise be excluded or marginalized, such as those who are handicapped or learning-disabled, or racial and sexual minorities.
—The Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary

The Fellowship aims to build a community that is open to individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities, races, etc. We will not tolerate phobic language or actions towards other members. Individuals who are made uncomfortable by the comments of another member but do not feel comfortable addressing that member individually should contact the Executive Board. We will work with you to determine the best course of action and discuss the issue with the membership at large, as well as individually with those who may be unsure of their words or actions.

Individuals who show a continuous disregard for this will be asked to leave the Fellowship.
